DESCRIPTION This autobiographical account of The Monks is a fascinating story set in mid-1960s Germany about one of the most rebellious rock and roll bands up to that point. Their music was a furious expression of antisocial feelings that anticipated the misery and anger of the Sex Pistols by almost fifteen years, and they also became catalysts and the greatest influence on what later came to be called Krautrock. While Shaw and Klemke's book immerses the reader in those extravagant musical times, it is also a story full of Cold War political intrigue and clashing nationalist ideals.
